Welcome to the OUAN Wiki

The OUAN Site Wiki is a labor of love created by the current members of OUAN for the future members of OUAN. Our goal is to make the canon history of our site as easy to peruse and learn as possible for those of you who wish to join our family. Within you can find everything from species to characters to members to canon tales and so much more.

WE ARE IN BETA TESTING RIGHT NOW. ALTHOUGH 99% OF THE WIKI IS DONE, WE ARE STILL IN THE PROCESS OF FACT CHECKING, PROOFREADING, AND COMPLETING A FEW EXTRA PAGES AS WE REALIZE THAT WE NEED TO MAKE THEM. Please excuse our mess. If you find empty pages, we are working on filling them post haste. If you find conflicting information, we are working on making our facts align across pages and we would be happy to tell you which piece of conflicting information is correct. We apologize for any confusion, with luck Beta Testing will be over the and the Wiki will be 100% done shortly.

THANK YOU!

Ocean Blight
Located on the outskirts of the Yarrow, Aeswick is a pastoral town in Dokrayth known for its fortifications and somewhat antagonistic outlook towards the rulers of the kingdom. It was the final outpost in Dokrayth to retain a human population after the fall of Dokrayth to the Blight, but after suffering a great fire in the Ocean Blight it was abandoned by its population and has stood empty ever since.

Location

Aeswick was founded in a valley outside the Dokraythian portion of the Yarrow. It is within a short trip to two small bays of the Maritanis and the beaches that accompany them. Thought to be one of the most remote villages in Dokrayth, it is this remoteness that allowed them to survive the Blight for so long.

History

Aeswick was founded in 685 AH by the cooperation of two separate families, Aes and Wick, who sought to combine their resources to combat the military might of the martial tyranny of then Dokraythian ruler, Andrick Magoffin. Because of its original intended purpose it was constructed much like a fort. Great walls surround the town square and the oldest homes in the town. As the town grew, the walls around it were also extended to encompass new homes and shops. The walls withstood assault by Magoffin forces for decades until it was conquered and officially absorbed into the Dokraythian empire in 748 AH.

Much of the Aeswick economy was dependent upon the textile trade for generations. When the baby Aurora was cursed and the textile industry was outlawed, many families were forced to leave their ancestral homes behind in favor of a new life in Calladahn or Xehacora where they would still be able to practice their craft. As a result, the town of Aeswick was deeply impacted. The population decreased by a third in less than a month and the hardships that resulted took many years for the remaining villagers to overcome. By the time Aurora’s curse came to fruition, feelings of animosity towards the ruling king and queen of Dokrayth were already at an irreparable high.

The Blight

Aeswick was one of the final strongholds to withstand the onslaught of the Blight. The people of the town were able to survive through a collective effort of the community to both protect themselves from the Starving and to scavenge food and supplies whenever and however they could. They became increasingly wary of strangers as the Blight forced people into desperate action.

It was not until the Maritanis fell to the Blight and monsters of the sea walked the land, that the town of Aeswick met its end. The citizens of Aeswick fell victim to the Fetidsoul who carried with them new and horrifying mutation to the Walking Starvation. The town attempted to rise to the challenge but the settlement that had managed to withstand the fall of Dokrayth was not able to survive the Ocean Blight. Fires erected to celebrate the Festival of Flames were used to burn the Fetidsoul in an attempt to overcome them. Instead the flames consumed the town and the citizens were forced to flee for their lives.
